Here at the Printsome blog, we’ve talked about pretty much everything we could think about related to T-shirts. From design tips to prices, fabric quality, trends and history there’s almost no subject that we haven’t covered.

That’s why I was shocked when I realised there was one topic we hadn’t tackled and that was the benefits they could bring to businesses. As we will explore, T-shirts can be a positive asset to any type of enterprise.

GENERAL BENEFITS

What happens when you want a new T-shirt? You just go to your favourite high-street shop and get one, right? They come in few, clearly labelled, sizes so there’s no need to even try them on if you already know what look’s good on you.

T-shirts are simple. There’s nothing difficult about them.

1. Are inexpensive to produce

Ultimately, it will all depend on the order details, of course. But when choosing the right printing technique and the right number of garments, the production can be relatively cheap! For example, you’d be surprised at the costs of a bulk order of screen-printed T-shirts with a simple design.

2. Are versatile

T-shirts are to designers what white canvases are to artists, an opportunity to create something awesome from scratch. Considering the advances that have been made in printing techniques and inks in the past few years, the possibilities are almost endless.

3. Are fast to produce

As long as the garments, the design and the printing technique get sorted out early, the production process of T-shirts can be fairly quick. It can sometimes be as fast as overnight.

4. Many options to choose from

Want a high-quality T-shirt with an affordable price? There’s a brand for that. How about a garment that has been sustainably made? There’s a brand for that too! Virtually every clothing brand makes T-shirts nowadays so it’s just a matter of finding your favourite.

T-SHIRTS AS UNIFORMS

After polo shirts, T-shirts are the best casual uniforms a company can give to their employees. Easy to brand and easy to wear, these garments are every brand’s dream.

Note: If you want to read more about workwear, go to our ‘How to design workwear’ post where we talk in detail about the subject.

5. Save time

Whether you like them or not, uniforms save time. When you have to wear the same clothes every day, then there is no decision to be made about your outfit.

6. Are comfortable

Nothing is quite as comfortable as a T-shirt. That’s why we wear them to sleep, to the gym and to the office on casual Fridays. The fabric is comfortable, the sleeves are short and they fit any body type.

7. Inspire camaraderie

This is not just T-shirts but any type of uniform, really. When you’re wearing the same clothes as your colleagues, it is easier to feel like a team. This creates a feeling of camaraderie among the members of an organisation.

8. Are easy to recognise

One of the reasons we wear uniforms is to be recognised easily. By the customers and our own team members (more on that later). In order to have the best effect, make sure your brand is on point and can be translated into different mediums.

9. Are safe

By having team members wear the same clothes, it not only makes them easier to recognise but it also prevents a stranger to ‘infiltrate’ the premises, if you will. This is particularly important when organising big events.

10. Reduce distractions

You know what I’m talking about when summer starts approaching, the days get warmer and the clothes get smaller. All of a sudden, you’re getting to know your coworkers on a whole new level. A standard T-shirt will prevent your coworkers from showing more flesh than you’d like to see.

11. Increase productivity

The less distracted the team is, then the more productive it will be.

12. Prevent people from standing out

In a good way! In an office where no dress code is imposed, there will always be a disparity between those who are a bit more formal and those that simply don’t care how they look like. If everyone wears the same T-shirt then no one will ever be under or overdressed.

13. Dress them up or down

Need a bit of a more formal look? Pair them up with trousers. Is your office a bit more relaxed? Wear it with a pair of shorts. The options are almost endless.

AS PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL

The T-shirt is marketing’s best friend. Whether at an event or in a shop, nobody promotes a brand quite like the tee.

14. Are familiar

Everybody has T-shirts, everybody wears them, everyone knows how to put them on. Next to the toilet, this is probably one of the best-known objects all over the world. Unlike some out-of-the-box idea, T-shirts are familiar and therefore need no introduction when given away as promotional material.

15. Are long-lasting

As long as they’re well kept, T-shirts outlast any other type of advertisement. They last longer than ads on magazines, TV commercials and even online banners. Think about it, how old is the oldest T-shirt that’s in your wardrobe? Exactly.

16. Promote everywhere they go

As long as the print remains visible, every time someone wears your T-shirt, they will turn into a walking billboard for your brand.

17. Increase brand loyalty

Whenever a high-quality product is given away for free, these tend to increase brand loyalty. It’s simple, who doesn’t like free stuff? Especially well-made stuff. The moment you give away something for free that people can use, you’ve earned their trust forever for a while.

18. They’re trending!

Logo T-shirts have been named one of the hottest 2017 fashion trends by several fashion blogs and magazines. And even if they weren’t…

19. They’re trend-proof

Ever since they became part of the everyday wardrobe back in the 60’s, T-shirts have never been out of style. It doesn’t matter if it’s now, in 10 years or 50, this garment will always be cool.

20. Can turn anyone into a brand evangelist

An interesting print on a T-shirt can always spark an interesting conversation. And if that print is a logo then all of a sudden they’re talking about your brand.
