London, UK: What happens when you mix 1940’s noir films with fashion, art deco and a hint of burlesque? Well, the extraordinary paintings of Gina Higgins, of course. On this occasion I wish to bring to your attention the work of this talented artist because it is approachable enough to be represented in various mediums (like on a T-shirt maybe?), while at the same time it remains sharply elegant.

Born in New Orleans, but raised in the Hollywood Hills of Los Angeles, Gina was born into a family of artists. It was them and the very town she grew up in that shaped her interests in old Hollywood movies, fashion and painting.
She studied Graphic Arts at the University of Southern California, while traveling to Italy and France to polish her drawing skills. At the beginning of her career she worked as a fashion illustrator for renowned brands such as Alexander McQueen and Liz Claiborne. Her most famous series of paintings are called American Noir and they have been exhibited in various cities across the United States and the United Kingdom.
