Hi Printsomers!

As every Tuesday, here we are again bringing you our newest episode of our most popular series: the #TshirtTuesday. Where we interview and feature some of the most exciting and new personalised T-shirts designers on Earth (are you one of them?).

This time around we bring you Gerra and her brand new apparel line Affirmative Clapbaction. A brand designed to shed light on racial tensions, but this one is unique because it includes dogs!

I hope you enjoy our newest #TshirtTuesday!

Interviewing Gerra, founder of Affirmative Clapbaction

Tell us about you, what’s your name? Where are you from? What do you do?

I am Gerra Harmon of Savannah, Georgia (US). I was born in Ohio, but I grew up in Georgia and I attended my first year of college in North Carolina, but I came back to Georgia (North Carolina was not for me) where I finished my English degree in 2014. Yet, I currently spend most of my time working with Dogs. 🙂

What about your brand? What’s its name? What makes it unique?

Affirmative Clapbaction was created as the physical embodiment of my response or Clapback, if you will, to what was being thrown at me. A response to what gets thrown at me as woman. A response to what gets thrown at me as a minority. A response to what gets thrown at me as an owner of a Pitbull. A response, in the larger sense, to all of the violence (be it against people or animals) we all have to see or hear about on a day to day basis. This is the response to what gets thrown at all of us. This brand is for everyone to wear as a response to any negativity you have to receive. This brand is your, no, OUR opportunity to clapback. Affirmative Clapbaction is unique because the end result is a positive even though the negatives helped in the creation.

If it were a person, what would he/she be like?

If my brand were a person, they would be a gender fluid individual, with a bit of sass, a great love of animals, and friendly to everyone.

Simplicity is key, describe your brand in three words:

Fun. Supportive. Inclusive.

For how long have you been selling T-shirts? Any remarkable story you learnt on the way? Any advice for beginners?

I haven’t been selling T-shirts for very long. I launched my website on November 10th, 2016. And although I am a beginner, I have been researching and I realised you have to do something you love. If you love what you’re doing, others will begin to see what you see.

Key question, why should people be interested in your brand?

People should be interested in our brand because it truly is something different. Race relations in the US is a very real issue right now, and there is always talk about discrimination against minorities, but on the other side is breed discrimination (specifically against pit bulls). Yet, no one has thought to combine the two to make a statement, a statement the world needs to hear.
