It’s #TshirtTuesday again! Time sure flies by during the summer – doesn’t it? This time around, we’ll talk about Sambatees, a music inspired clothing line with minimal aesthetics.
The brand was started by Andre Averbug, an entrepreneur, economist and blogger that’s originally from Brazil but currently lives in the US. Sambatees is the answer to music lovers who want to express their passion, but cannot find garments that reflect their taste. The printed T-shirts include cheerful illustrations that feature dancers, singers and musicians infused with passion and movement and have a touch of vintage with a comic-book flavour. The designs are sure to become the favourites of many.
I hope you enjoy our newest #TshirtTuesday!
Interviewing André, founder of Sambatees
Tell us about you, what’s your name? Where are you from? What do you do?
Hi, I’m Andre A. I grew up in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, but live in the U.S. I’m a serial entrepreneur, economist, blogger (here’s my HuffPost handle), and amateur musician.
What about your brand? What’s its name? What makes it unique?
At Sambatees we bring music and design together to make t-shirt art that puts you on stage. Sambatees was founded by an artist and an entrepreneur, with backgrounds in graphic design, street art, music, and start-ups. What’s unique about us is that we design music t-shirts with art beats and only use premium quality 100% cotton, American Apparel tees!
It all started with the perception that music apparel hadn’t changed in decades. T-shirt graphics were limited to classic themes of bands and artists, festivals and concerts, or featured instruments or music styles with simplistic designs. We decided to change that!
We are taking music apparel up a notch or two. Graphic design and music work beautifully together and we put them alongside to make unique t-shirt art.
If it were a person, what would he/she be like?
Someone who loves music and minimalistic, artsy aesthetics!
Simplicity is key, describe your brand in three words:
Unique. Artsy. Upbeat.
For how long have you been selling t-shirts? Any remarkable story you learnt on the way? Any advice for beginners?
We just launched a couple of weeks ago! It’s been a long learning curve though and I did share some general advice on launching a T-shirt business in this post.
A key question, why should people be interested in your brand?
Our brand resonates with people who love music, slick t-shirts and want to stand out from the crowd. To see what I mean, simply try wearing a Sambatees t-shirt for a day. I’ll bet you at least a couple of people will look at the shirt and give you a smile or nod, or even stop you to ask where you got it from. Happens to me all the time. And you’ll notice that they are people like you, with good taste for music and tees. Great way to start a conversation! 😉
Are you on Social Media? Where can we find you?
Yes, though we’re still in the beginning and trying to be focused. For now, we are concentrating on Facebook but will soon grow presence in other channels as well (will soon find us on Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest).
