This time around we bring you Mikey and his brand The Fresh Collective. A new T-shirt line that’s recognisable for its simple graphics and quirky sense of humour.

Interviewing Michael Couch, founder of The Fresh Collective
Tell us about you, what’s your name? Where are you from? What do you do?
I’m Michael Couch, more commonly known as Mikey. Born in England, age five moved to New Zealand, age 10 Moved to Melbourne Australia, age 15 moved to Perth, Australia where I now have finally stayed longer than five years at the age of 26. In between, I travelled through Europe and lived in Whistler, Canada, for nearly two years. I’m a Bricklayer who recently enrolled in a Graphic Design course to start soon.
What about your brand? What’s its name? What makes it unique?
The brand initially came around a good 10 years ago without a name when I was making my own T-shirts with my own drawing and designs through online print stores. For a while people had been asking me to get one for themselves, so i guess it was only a matter of time to start spreading the love. The name is “the fresh collective” and it comes from the fresh feeling you get when waking up and putting on a new shirt which you know isn’t going to be seen by others – well, I will. I feel each shirt has a subtle meaning in my life through the drawings and sayings they have in them. Hopefully, others will feel the connection through them and wake up feeling fresh also.
If it were a person, what would he/she be like?
If my brand walked into a room, it would be the person who doesn’t get attention until they feel comfortable enough to truly express themselves. It would make sure everybody is having a good time and relish on how the situation has turned out. So basically me.
Simplicity is key, describe your brand in three words:
Relevant, Approachable and Carefree.
For how long have you been selling T-shirts? Any remarkable story you learnt on the way? Any advice for beginners?
To be honest, I’m new to this myself and what I’m learning at the moment is to just stick to what made you start. Don’t change your course for the overall idea you have in mind, I’m sure it will turn out fine in the end.

To stand out with designs only unique and true to itself.
