Interviewing Jackie Smith, founder of UCool-2
Tell us about you, what’s your name? Where are you from? What do you do?
Hi, I am Jackie Smith and I’m originally from Jamaica, but I’ve been living in Florida for the past two years. Before that I was living in Chicago where I attended Loyola University and got both undergraduate and graduate degrees in Finance and Marketing.
I’ve always had a love for fashion and an absolute obsession for personal growth so I decided to put both loves together and create a brand that would represent that. I truly believe that the human spirit is an amazing thing and if we just believed in it a bit, it would do some amazing, awesome, powerful things. But first we have to believe and that is where our brand comes in…
What about your brand? What’s its name? What makes it unique?
My brand is called UCool-2 Lifestyle Apparel, which means that you can overcome obstacles in life. I choose the number two because to me two represents a do- over. Meaning you can always start over and create the life you want if you don’t like the one you presently have.
Our brand is designed to be incorporated into your lifestyle and become a part of you so that it shapes you to wake up and live your life with passion and purpose.
What makes us unique is our mission.
Our mission is to spread a message of hope, positivity and inspiration.
If it were a person, what would he/she be like?
If my brand were a person it would have no gender, it would just be a person that instills hope in others. To inspire others to go after their dreams, to have a positive outlook on life and to believe that there is some higher power out there that wants to help them. And Ucool-2 wants to inspire you to once again have some hope, lash on to some positivity and give you inspiration to do some amazing, awesome things!

For how long have you been selling t-shirts? Any remarkable story you learnt on the way? Any advice for beginners?
I just started my brand a little over a month now. The story I have learned along the way is that you have to believe that success will come, even when there is no immediate evidence of it on the horizon. Because if you do, then you will push yourself past the negativity and push yourself until you hold success by the tail. For beginners, believe in your dream and keep believing in yourself, each one of us is great at something but we don’t become great overnight, it is a process. So work on your greatness each and every day and never give up. And be kind to yourself, don’t beat yourself up. You are going to need YOU to become successful.
Key question, why should people be interested in your brand?
Why should people be interested in my brand? People should be interested in my brand because I think a lot of people have lost hope. They have big dreams; they want a better life but all the negativity around them has robbed them of their dreams. They are struggling with the constant thought: Is this all there is?
Yet, there is still a little spark inside of them that desires to hope, to dare to dream- that they could be better, have more, create a better life.
That’s where UCool-2 comes in. We come in and start to fan that little spark –to remind that dreamer, that thinker, that seeker – that they can overcome obstacles, they can be given a second chance and yes they can go after and accomplish their dreams. And yes, they can do it by being unique and true to themselves.
They had the courage all along, they just needed someone, something to come in and inspire them to step out and be great and go after their secret dreams.
